Happy Valentine’s Day! Are you celebrating today? I’ve always been torn at Valentine’s Day. I don’t like the idea of spending heaps of money on the day but I do like the thought of making a little bit of extra special effort for the one you love. You know I usually do that through food.
Just for a change, I was cruising around Pinterest the other night and spotted some gorgeous Valentine’s treats. These chocolate cupcakes look so rich and decadent and I love the way they’re topped off with simple chocolate hearts. They’d be pretty easy to make too. Just colour a little melted white chocolate, pipe it onto baking paper to set then pop them off and add a little love.
I’ve developed a little love for decorating plain biscuits with royal icing. There are so many cute little tricks. If you flood the biscuits in icing then put a blob of another colour on top and drag a toothpick through it you get a gorgeous little heart like these lovely cookies.
What’s not to love about these? Jam drops are always a hit but aren’t they adorable with a heart-shaped drop? Pop over to Elizabeth Floyd to see how the clever creator made the heart shapes.
They’re not food-related but if you’re still looking for a last-minute Valentine’s gift I know I would love being gifted one of these adorable bookmarks. Aren’t they cute? Visit Positively Splendid to download the file and then grab some pretty ribbon for the finishing touch.
Not Quite Nigella’s bacon roses are perfect if you want to give something a little different of you have a bacon-lover.
Since I started buying Barambah milk regularly I’m rather partial to a glass of milk after dinner (yes I have regressed). What’s better than a glass of milk? A glass of milk and a biscuit of course. I extra love these because we have those exact glasses in our cupboard.
Finally I love the idea of two flavours in a biscuit. Aren’t these cute? Head to Jen’s Favourite Cookies to see how she made them. I’m making a rich chocolate mud cake for dessert tonight. Hopefully it tastes as good as it smells!
However you’re spending Valentine’s Day (even if you don’t believe in it), have a wonderful day filled with love. xx

Love this mix – so many fun ideas! I’m pretty low key about Valentine’s Day, but I do like to do a little something extra special. Bangkok explodes with red roses today. Go figure.
