Tiny tomatoes

They say there are two sides to every story. I like to think there are a few sides to my garden. If you look at it from one angle you will see neglect, death and brown but if you look at it from a different perspective you will see life, flowers, fruit and abundance.

My plantings from a few weeks ago are doing brilliantly if you look at the herbs and marigolds and terribly if you look at the lettuce and spinach (who no longer exist). Snow peas seem to want to thrive while one lonely bean stalk sprouted and left the others dormant in the dirt.

I also have a little admission to make. Last week, so exhausted I was from my awful spring cold, I couldn’t lift myself off the couch to water the garden and asked the hubs to do it for me. He was out there for at least 5 minutes. Here I was thinking ‘oh dear he’s flooding the place.’

‘You took a while,’ I said on his return. ‘They’re big pots, they need a lot of water,’ he responded. I was hesitant to believe him but the next morning everything looked fantastic. The mint had gotten it’s spring back and I swear the tomatoes grew over night. I’m not one to admit when I’m wrong but I think I just may have been under-watering for all this time. Not any more!

I’ve switched to giving them all a big drink every two days and the garden is starting to look great. Instead of my usual picture tour I thought I’d take you on a walk through the garden complete with relaxing music. Enjoy!
