In my kitchen – May 2012

My favourite purchase

This month’s In My Kitchen post is brought to you from our Thailand honeymoon. We didn’t do too much shopping but I did manage to pick up a few little treasures along the way.

The first thing in my kitchen is this aqua mini cake stand. I have been looking for something like this for ages and got a little bit too excited when I stumbled across it at a very random little store in a town near one of our resorts. It will probably feature in so many photos you’ll get sick of it but I love it!

Sauce jugs

In my kitchen are two little stainless steel sauce jugs. We got a few beaten stainless steel items as wedding gifts and these will go perfectly. We have to start entertaining more regularly so I can use everything.

Cooking with Poo

In my kitchen is a Thai cookbook. The only activity that we booked before we left was a cooking class in Bangkok. It was quite a morning starting with a tour of a very authentic market but we learned some easy and delicious recipes. I’ll share the morning in a little more detail later in the week but be prepared for some pretty slimy market photos.

Magic chili paste

In my kitchen is a little jar of what I think is chili sauce. We used it in our cooking class and it added so much flavour and a hint of chili. I had to hunt it down at the supermarkets and bring some home.

Baby spoons

In my kitchen are two little spoons. To give you an idea of size they’re a bit bigger than a finger. I find it really hard to find pretty spoons this size so I had to have these.

That wraps up my In My Kitchen tour for May. If you want to check out a few other kitchens or take part in the series yourself, check out Fig Jam and Lime Cordial (Celia started the In My Kitchen idea).

What about you? What sort of thing do you buy when you go overseas?

It’s taken me a long time to learn that they’re better than traditional souvenirs that don’t last long! x
